\nThe committee completed questions from TEA on Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment as it related to our campus. This was to review our Comprehensive Needs Assessment. We completed these questions as a whole group.
\n
\nThere are 2 other parts to the Comprehensive Needs Assessment.
\n
\n\u2022 The Technology portion will be completed by the Technology committee. The Academic Committee discussed the need for every grade level to have a representative on the Technology committee. Staff members who were suggested to serve on this committee:

\n-Laurie Gordon, Donna Hendricks, Tania Jackson, Kristy Monceaux, Alana Peddy, Sharron Wood, Iva Switzer, Mary Kay Berndt, and Darby LaRocca
\n
\n\u2022 The final portion is School Context and Organization. This will be completed by grade levels. Special teachers also have one to be filled out. Each team will need to meet and answer the questions as they relate to MVE. These are due to Mrs. Knight by Wednesday, September 7.

\nLaurie Gordon opened the meeting asking for input from the committee concerning the district\/campus budget. Mr. Greg Perry has asked LCM employees review campus procedures and budget allocations and note where adjustments could be made. He would like these recommendations on or before March 31.
\n
\nThe committee came up with the following recommendations and or ideas for further investigation:
\n\u2022 LCM School District offer an early retirement incentive.
\n\u2022 Whole campus training for CPI certification. This would save on substitutes, gas, and students missing intervention time.
\n\u2022 Reduction of days worked for positions that work beyond the 10 month student school year.
\n\u2022 Keep Mauriceville fleet of buses in Mauriceville, saves gas and time paid to drivers.
\n\u2022 Look for opportunities to use technology instead of paper.
\n\u2022 Science Starters, don\u2019t print 15 pages per student, create laminated class set to reuse over and over.
\n\u2022 Don\u2019t print hard copies of grade book at the end of the year.
\n\u2022 Hand blowers in place of paper towels at wash basins.
\n\u2022 Combine after hours events such as Open House, TAKS Night, Book Fair. This could be in recognition of employees giving up one day\u2019s pay.
\n
\nAny further recommendations should be e-mailed to Laurie Gordon before 3\/31.
\n
\nMrs. Knight briefly reviewed current budget allocations, explained different budget functions, suggestion will be made at the April Campus Improvement Committee meeting.
\nThe district is again asking that campuses reduce their budget by 5%.
\n
\nMrs. Knight explained past practices in regards to teacher supply money and a possible future change in procedure. The committee tabled this decision until the April meeting.
\nThis year\u2019s teacher supply money should be spent before the end of the year. Mrs. Knight will set a cut off date for those expenditures in the near future. Any unspent money will be moved to function 11 for instructional materials.

\nLaurie Gordon opened the meeting with a praise for MVE\u2019s TAKS Night\/Book Fair Night. She stated that it was a huge success! We had a large turnout for TAKS Night and raised a lot of money at the Book Fair.
\n
\nMrs. Knight discussed the projected enrollment numbers for the 2011-2012 school year. The committee looked at the Professional Personnel Needs for 2011-2012. It was noted that MVE needs to lose 1 teaching position because of student enrollment numbers. Mrs. Knight stated the need for a plan of action for losing this position and decided to discuss this at the next meeting.
